The Intel Extreme Masters New York event is fast approaching, and we’d like to share the details on how to qualify for South East Asia / Oceania.

You must be 16 years of age or older by the end of IEM New York to participate.



Here is how we will determine who the SEA/OC players will be:
• Stage 1: Open bracket (Double Elimination)
Dates: 10th of September
The top 4 players from each open bracket will go through to the second stage

• Stage 2: Qualification + Invite (Double Elimination)
Dates: 11th of September
4 automatically seeded players will be invited, and compete against the 4 qualifiers.
The Top 2 proceed to Stage 3

• Stage 3: Asian Finals
Dates: TBA
Format-TBA

The IEM Website indicates that the Asian Final = Korea/Taiwan + China + SEA/Oceania/South Asia

Now that LoL is offcially a sport in the US, making visas easier, they might take a brighter view at sc2.

do you get any points for participating in qualifiers? or will the top 4 seeds remain the same until someone else from SEA attends an IEM

You only get points from participating in the actual events at the moment. So until someone else makes it to an IEM the top 4 seeds will be like that

Thats just the way it is man.. IEM make the rules... and we don't have any other ESL events in Aus just yet to give points n stuff... we are hoping to get something going... but its still in the works.

Byrnsy, is it correct that these qualifiers are to qualify for the Asia qualifier which includes Korea and China? Or does winning Stage 2 guarantee you a spot in New York
