[P]Protoss beginner builds for a relatively new player
Hi everyone,
Not really used to posting so I thought I should give it a try. I am a relatively new player to SC2. I played on and off last year before an injury whilst at uni. I am coming back now. I tried a bit of all the races and enjoyed Protoss and Terran the most. Decided to focus on Protoss.
Now really sure how to start though. Trying to find a place which has beginner friendly build. Something I can practice against AI until it is memorised and then try it on ladder. Preferably nothing which is a cheese.
Also any tips for new players is welcome.
Also what type of hotkey setup is good for protoss? I heard about the core but my friend said it isn't beginner friendly.

Reason: race change
To begin don't worry about "builds" all you first want to do is build probes and pylons until you get to 200/200 and any extra money spend it via units and upgrades. Don't worry about attacking until then.
All your working on is your very basic macro mechanics, you will lose games and win games by this. its best to practice this all early on though.
Hotkey wise my littler changes were sentry shield to r as i find it easier and location keys to f1-f4. other than that its just figuring out what works for you. i have immortals at robo on y cos i use 6 for robo.
hope this helps. gl hf. if any more questions feel free to pm me nz and brotoss fighting
What Stally means is that don't worry about being specific with a build order, just get used to building stuff.
In most games in the lower ranks it usually just depends on you having more stuff than your opponent and not exactly about composition; which will become more important around Diamond level.
So focus on not getting supply blocked, building workers, and building units. As Stally said the very basic macro mechanics.

vs AI can help with your mechanics but it is quite different when playing vs humans. for example humans actually think and strategize and are more tricky sometimes so other factors such as scouting, reacting etc becomes even more important when vs humans. even if you can beat elite ai it just means your mechanics are decent enough but not necessarily at plat yet. so you could probably also practice vs humans (ask around and find some players to have games with you in custom games etc) until you are comfortable OR just hit the ladder with no expectations of where you might be placed and alternating between AI and humans. If ranked ladder creates any anxiety you can try with unranked first.

"and we'll invest more on Bots, as our first Trial bot, the 'NemBotElie' was a huge success, organising tournaments and being part of the Council of mGG. But there are a few bugs in which the bot cannot go past the skill level of a Platinum Protoss." - PaRAnorMaL
Well once I can comfortably beat the AI then I will move to ranked. The best way to learn from then on is to actually play. Learn through mistakes. Failure leads to success.
when you do move to ranked build orders will be a necessity so i suggest sites like spawning tool will help you find one you feel suits your play style
