Is the map pool confirmed already for sc2? If not, I think we should consider using MLG map pool or maybe Acer team story cups map pool they have 9 maps so there's a little more variety which isn't too bad. I would suggest GSL/GSTL maps but there's a bunch of random unheard of maps in there so it's probably not viable.
it's probably written somewhere, but is there a schedule of the days? Previous ACL's the 'pro groups' seeded players haven't needed to arrive until later, etc.. when should everyone arrive and check in etc..
Any tips on parking at/near the venue? tips for public transport options, etc.
Mr Chadman, only just saw this, though we worked through a few things with the schedule this afternoon. For all those that didn't see it via our social media.... (follow and like us now @ACLPro and /aclpro).. then here is the schedule released including group play times:
Do pro-players need to check in before, say 2pm?... When is the latest they can be there (some are suggesting spending the morning at a PC cafe practising)..

They'll need to be there by 1pm to complete registration and in case we are able to start Pro Pools earlier
Will there be a show notes/summary? Not sure if I'll have time to watch all this, mostly curious what time I need to be there for open bracket and the rest of the schedule as far as spectating goes.

The show will be recorded and kept so you can review it later if need be. The order of the show should be more or less the order it is shown in the original post
What are the current sign-ups for Starcraft, and has the threshold been hit for the prize pool?
Is there a cut-off date for Light to choose his race? Some would consider it an advantage going blind into pool play.
I noticed you are going out of your way (like 5 times) to call the spectator entry fee a donation. Does this mean this it's voluntary? (i'm not broke, i just found it interesting!)
Got in a tiny bit late on this for the show, though some quick replies UHF. Baldie will be posting a 'Last Information' thread tomorrow with a bit more detail.
- Currently 46 signups (incl. Pros). Close to threshhold though not all confirmed. Often get more for open bracket show up without registration. Won't know until the day.
- Discussed this with Baldie, we see the validity in this point, he will advise
- Spectator fee is set and not voluntary. First 30 sc2 specs will get in free as will Pro Players +1s as we promised. That's 46 people. We encourage those people to donate which is why we refer to it as a donation.
- Parking $27 per day at venue (EXTREMELY LIMITED - wouldn't recommend). Alternate parking available in SecureParking in Tank St (confirming in Baldie's post tomorrow).
- Pro Pool Schedule working fine for me and all my staff
A thought RE-predetermined group nominations for open bracket players - Say, top two players from open bracket pick the same group, that brings a lot of strength into the one group.. The issue is that players from the open bracket have a distinct advantage if they know the results of the group PLUS get to pick their group - why would you play in qualifiers under those conditions?!.. Anyway, if 1st and 2nd from open bracket pick the same group, thats not great for anyone. Solution? - offer top 4 open bracket seeds the option to opt down to their 2nd or even 3rd preference for a group.

I don't really understand what you are trying to say here. If top 2 players pick same group well good luck to them. There's no way we can have everybody be happy when there is an open bracket and pro bracket and pre picking groups before results are in seems the fairest at the moment.

Then pro bracket is disadvantaged as they didn't get to pick either. By that stage there will be results in and it will give the top 2/4/however many we allow to pick a huge advantage which we tried to avoid in the first place.
If teams want to be strategical about which groups they pick to try avoid hitting the same group then go for it and take a risk but unless I am mistaken and there is a big outcry there should be no bonus based on where you finish in open bracket top 8 other than being more likely to get the group you want. If we add too many options it just gets confusing for everybody and there will be the next problem to try fix.
