great opportunity to showcase your skills on an international stage and pending how well you do, potentially be your access to an international presence.
"So You Think You Can Cast" offers up-and-coming casters an opportunity to show their skills and get their names out there in a competition with their peers. A group of applicants will be selected to participate, and every week they will cast some of the games from the AHGL. Then in the playoffs, our viewers will vote on who did the best job - determining who moves on to the next round until the very first "So You Think You Can Cast" Champion is declared.
Each week during the AHGL Season 3 playoffs (March 2013), the competitors will have a game or series of games to cast. Voting will be opened up on the AHGL website on Tuesdays (which should be 2 days after the games were played). After 2 more days (Thursdays), the votes will be tabulated, and the top half of the casters will move on to the next round.
The winners will have a highlight reel of their casting played during AHGL Season 3 finals. Given that Season 2 finals had 15,000 concurrent views, this is a huge opportunity!
Registration ends on November 16th, 2012
Entrants will be notified by November 30th, and chosen casters may be asked to cast as soon as Dec. 2nd for preseason games
My question is what they mean by teams.. does that mean limiting to 2 people? Or could a "team" of casters register say the casting company I am involved with and rotate through. Or could a team include an observer? I anticipate only 2 people as voting would not be consistent each week if different people casting.
I had a read, from the context, it means a team of 2. It also looks like it's done from Replays, so if you want to have an observer setup somehow, go for it, but I can't see it being of any benefit as you cannot follow their camera in a replay, and you will end up with sync issues.
I'm not sure if this is a dumb question or not; but is it streaming live or from replays? It doesn't specifically say as far as I can see. It does however say:
Games are played on Sunday
Casts must be submitted by Monday night
For a second I was thinking <insert country> has talent type of show where day9,tasteless,artosis and incontrol sit and critique people on how they cast, with big x and check marks to show decisions .
But seeing how so many people have casting aspirations, this will help them a lot.
Just some suggestions for any teams looking to make it happen. Replay casting with two people is actually ridiculously hard to keep synced because of the delay streaming causes.
Something you have to experience to appreciate! As a rule of thumb for teams applying have the play-by-play caster streaming as it's basically impossible to play-by-play if you aren't streaming because you are often ahead.
Work out between you how you will que each other on positions in the game subtly like say if a storm went down and i was the non streamer, I would pause my replay until I heard my co-caster comment on the storm. Or if you want to create other ques go for it. Avoid "I'm at 10 min 30 sec" ruins the live feel.
As the analytical caster comment on upgrades when they are 10+ sec into progress to ensure they actually have started the upgrade on stream!
