Just wondering if there's anyone here who plays on Taiwan/Korean servers, and how their delay is.
Is there any way to play on these servers and improve latency to make it more playable? Yes I have googled and tried to search through TL etc, but I haven't really found anything that works (other than getting an ISP that connects well to korea).
I'm quite sure this doesn't give you an accurate ping to the servers. I get different IP addresses when i connect to the Bnet servers and use netstat -n to trace the IP addresses(unfortunately I couldn't ping them).
Changing to fibre optics(for SG Users) drastically improves your ping to KR server. Based on my experience, these were my ping before and after changing:
Before:
SEA: 20ms
NA: 300ms
KR: 500ms
After:
SEA: 10ms
NA: 350ms
KR: 130ms
PS: I have a friend who has had the same experience as me
Ok yea i get huge ping to Korea (mind you I'm not on the computer, internet connection or place i play SC from at the moment, but I assume results would be similar). From NSW (Australia), what could I do to improve this (if possible at all) ?
202.9.66.76 is the SEA server and 202.9.66.38 is the sea.battle.net address.
No difference in latency, it's just easier to tell people to tracert a battle.net address.
121.254.200.130 is the korean Server IP number and kr.logon.battle.net is exactly the same. So I don't know why some people are saying the things they are ;3
You can't ping it as Blizzard (and whoever they have contracted to host the game itself in SEA) block you from doing so, which is why you do a tracert and use the last known result before 'Destination unreachable' to get your latency.

The difference for SEA and S.korea is less than 50ms (for me in Australia), it's quite possible for you to ping low 20 to kr and high 20s to SEA xD

The old electrical (copper) wiring performs better in a vacuum compared to fibre optics, SG routing (when on fibre) is just much nicer

Thanks
You have two choices, Change ISP to one that has a better connection to S.korea. Or you do tracert kr.logon.battle.net and post it.. so we can say 'YES a tunneling service to improve your routing would help' or 'Sorry you are one unlucky nub'.
I think that's everything \o/

Reason: spelling
which is why you do a tracert and use the last known result before 'Destination unreachable' to get your latency.
You sure? cus that means my ping to SEA is 400ms. I dont know why but my first 3 results are always 20-22ms and then the rest is 200+ gradually getting higher to 400.

How is it possible that my Sea and Kr ping is the same when i live in australia.. something unreliable here
Edit; Tried it with US servers and i maxed at 200ms.. i dont even notice the servers being that much difference in response.. o.o but then again i wouldnt notice a 0.2s difference. ohwell

For Singapore players im afraid you are going to get some delay that might affect your overall gameplay especially in a korean style of play. As you know in SC2, every little bit counts.
Some Aussie says the delay is barely noticeable.

You are going through the US to get to KR and SEA (at least at the end) so the Latency is very similar, optus do this. Your first three hops are low because it's in the country sill.

Ok so I met someone today who happened to play on Korean servers. In our brief exchange, I asked about lag and how he dealt with it. He said he used a proxy to get a better connection because the lag was unplayable. Does anyone know how to do this, or where to find out?
