[OSC]Terran Hope initiative! Bonus $'s to Terran players
Introducing the Terran Hope
Initiative $$$
Powered by Silicon Sports
Where are all the top tier Terrans at?
Nobody knows? It's been a sad occurrence in our heavily Zerg and Protoss dominated scene for a while now.
Some statistics to consider.
Of the 41 Masters Cups, 33 have been won by , 5 by and only 3 by .
In the current OSC rankings there are only 2 Terrans ranked in the top 32 (Down from 5/32 in season 1).
iaguz is the only non zerg to have won an ACL championship (once).
If you look through most of the top SEA team lists, you'll be lucky to find a Terran representative.
So it seems Terrans are a bit of an endangered species atm.
Silicon Sports and the OSC team are partnering together to do something about this discrepancy!
ANY Terran player who places in the money in a OSC partnered tournament will be awarded double their earnings up to $100 in value for SEA residents and $25 for International players (Korea, Europe, NA)!
If a SEA Terran player wins a SEAcraft Weekly $30 first place, $60 will be coming your way.
Win $100 in a Masters Cup, $200 will be coming your way.
If an international Terran player wins a SEAcraft Weekly $30 first place, $55 will be coming your way.
Win $100 in a Masters Cup, $125 will be coming your way.
Before everyone switches to try terran for a week, remember that you'll still have the best chance at winning if you play your main race. This is designed to encourage up and coming SEA terrans, and international big names to play in OSC tournaments. You must play the entire tournament as Terran, no switching mid series/mid tournament.
*Note, playing as random doesn't count as Terran. A cap of $150 per player will be set, you can't earn bonuses once this amount has been reached Invitationals and WCS NA Qualifiers will be excluded from future bonuses, as already a very rewarding prizepool!
Silicon Sports is a Melbourne based eSports events organisation, responsible for successful events such as BarCraft Melbourne. They also have a quality StarCraft 2 Pro team, SLCN.pro, and academy programme as well as a dedicated casting team.
The Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship Series (OSC) is the SEA regional championship, which follows a yearly season format, where players earn points for placing in all partnered tournaments. The top 32 players ranked via SEA Power Rankings / OSC Player Leader board at the end of the season are then invited to play in the Grand Finale to determine the yearly champion!
WCS NA Qualifiers will be excluded from future bonuses, as already a very rewarding prizepool!

$50 bonus for International players (Korea, Europe, NA) changing is to $25
My personal views on why I (SLCN) have partnered with OSC in this initiative:
I am Terran, always have been, always will be
The local scene is completely overrun by Zerg
I feel Terran brings a lot more diversity to games for spectators
It shines a bit more light on the local seen internationally
I wanted to do something a little more innovative
As for Protoss, yes the number of winners are very similar to Terran in the Masters Cup but across the majority of tournaments, Protoss is quite well represented. If someone wants to front up money for a similar initiative, go for it!
why dont protosses get the same benefits! we're only 2 more than terrans and those were likely koreans... protosses should get the same benefits! strike! riot!!

It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.

Why not just double the money in the first place? Why do they need to be Terran? Are you that concerned with balancing out the racial statistics? Or is this just a viewer thing to get more Terrans to play and lessen the amount of ZvZ? I don't even know of any new up and coming Terran players in SEA who would get anywhere close to winning this tournament anyways so I'm not sure any new people will show up, and even if they do they'll get stomped (not the international one).
I suppose its a good bit of fun, I just don't like the money idea. If you are trying to incentivize this just double the money regardless but give winning Terrans extra OSC points, the money means nothing in the short term but at least the extra OSC points could make a difference in the OSC rankings and get more in the top 32.
Clever angle though, I like these new ideas getting churned out.
We already have a lot of Protoss OSC representatives. Both in the top 8, and throughout top 32.
We've seen SEA stars like Blysk win the SEA Rising Star, Lobo win weeklies, both and others doing well in WCS. Blysk was incredibly close this last Masters Cup.
There's already some strong foreigners, Arthur, Sage, Huk, Hitman.
Plus SEA stars Pezz, Fighto, Probe, etc and a few up and comers.
Where are all the top tier Terrans at? Or that next level looking to push up.
The aim is to attract more Terrans/entice people to play Terran in our tournaments.
Can you please respond with information regarding eligibility of race pickers for OSC tournaments? Would this mean that I could theoretically play T/Z and receive double prize (or an increased prize) if I finished in the money?

I played mostly Human in WC3. Or Night Elf. Didn't get into Orcs. Fun times

If you changed the global SEA prize structure to account for this, you could shift it say Z: 50%, P, 75%, T 100% and double the starting pool. Then adjusting tri monthly based on changes in race percentages.
