I'm the competitions manager of GTeSports, we're a gaming community and currently the hub of Australian/New Zealand Counter-Strike so you'll have to excuse my lack of insight on this topic as I come from a competitive CS background and only play SC2 casually (I do love the streams tho!).
My queries are:
How large if your active competitive community?
What is the skill difference within the competitive community?
Is there a strong amateur communtiy?
LAN or Online? Which is stronger? What is preferred?
We're looking to expand our competitive community within the coming year to support more eSports titles and we'd love to support the Australian/New Zealnd Starcraft scene with online tournaments for everyone's benefit.
When compared to communities like the USA, Europe etc its not very big, but still has good players. In terms of Aus, it's the biggest maybe second to LoL (I have 0 idea how big LoL is in Aus)
Skill difference is same as any community. There are top tier pros, competitive players, average players, and Noobs. Each divided into divisions by the game. Pros, GMs/masters, GPD and BSG.
Yes there is a fairly strong amateur community.
Online is stronger for sc2, since primarily LAN doesn't make a difference in relation to ping, is easier to organise, and easier to incorporate other people not living in Australia, Ie. NZ and SEA area.
This is a tournament that my Clan metaGameGods (mGG) will be hosting over the next couple months with 4 qualifiers leading up to a top 16 bracket with $1000 prize pool (all online).
Thanks heaps guys! If anyone is willing to help me out just a stronger footing or to get onboard our admin team in regards for sc2 when we move into this eSports title please drop me an email at nathan@gtesports.com.au
Would love help, feedback or if you are available to just consult for me in regards to sc2.
