Tal'darim and Shakuras OUT, Newkirk and Akalon IN!
Blizzard have announced their map changes for the first season of 2013 with two Heart of the Swarm maps, Akalon Flats and Newkirk District replacing old faithfuls Tal'darim Altar and Shakuras Plateau.
The new 1v1 Map pool is as follows:
Antiga Shipyard
Cloud Kingdom
Condemned Ridge
Daybreak LE
Entombed Valley
Ohana LE
Akalon Flats
Newkirk District
Akalon Flats
Newkirk District
3v3 Map Pool Changes Inbound!
In addition, Blizzard is also introducing two new 3v3 maps to replace Ulaan Depths and Monsoon.
The 3v3 map pool will be:
Cinder Fortress
Dig Site
Green Acres
Silent Dunes
Temple of the Preservers
The Bio Lab
Backwater Complex
Twisted Vern

I have enjoyed playing both Newkirk and Akalon in the HotS beta, but then again I'm only at the stage where the map is irrelevant to me. I just play the game.
Yeah I agree with people saying that bliz should probably put some GSL maps in, but I really wanna play those wonkey Kespa maps that are in proleague!!

also somewhat enjoyed Condemned (ZergRidge) Ridge when i play zerg.
These new maps are interesting but fall FAAAR short in comparison to say GSL or KeSPA maps. Maybe make two different map pools? one for competitive players to ladder on, and another full of the regular maps for regular players, and make either map pool a "Select one" so as to vetoe one.
