These series of steps have been one of my common goals when I play. And whenever I watch Day9 daily and his advices, he always repeats these simple guidelines. So I want to share with the sc2 sea community some steps that I follow when I play a game regardless of wining or losing.
These steps are mostly targeted to the Bronze Silver and Gold League. I am a diamond player but I feel I maybe just platinum.
As per day9 and a bit of few interjections that I added.
Step 1 Always create workers (scv, drones, probe) to strengthen economy.
Step 2 Always create supply ( Depos, Overlords, pylon) to be able to create workers and army.
Step 3 Create sufficient production facilities ( barracks, factories, ports, gateways, stargate, robo, hatcheries) if you feel that you have sufficient economy.
Step 4 Invest in upgrades after you have the tech that you wanted. Never forget them because it will strengthen your army
Step 5 SCOUT SCOUT SCOUT ! Players should scout and continue scouting even when macroing or attacking. It never hurts to scout to have more knowledge on what the opponent is doing.
Step 6 Unit control - this comes last because I know that I have much yet to learn microing and controling my units. Nonetheless if you have a large army with a good position you can just "a" the ground and win.
Step 7 Make sure you have fun.
Step 8 Be a well-mannered individual, losing is fine and it will be inevitable that you can lose in games.
Expand timings and Attack timings and Unit control are really much more complicated to teach but those above are what should be the first goals of the BSG players to flourish their foundations.
I hope players can be able to learn from what I have shared.
I started at Bronze and now I am a diamond (but i feel only platinum).
I cannot visit team liquid site because of websense here at work. But nonetheless if I place a similar thread in the forums here it wouldn't be much of a difference.

Basically the thread on TL says:
Bronze - Economy
Silver - Production
Gold - Knowledge
Platinum - Information, Army, Build (in order of low plat to high plat)
Diamond - Control, Force
Master - Management, Micro
GM - Timings, Dusting.
That seems pretty accurate to me actually, coming from not being a rts player when sc2 came out it's definately been in order of economy -> production and I'm gaining knowledge now making my way into and maybe through gold
Definitely accurate, I know the major thing keeping me back at the moment is keeping up production. Nice write up myk certainly a few things to think about.
No wonder I'm stuck in Gold. I couldn't get hold of becoming a Platinum. I remember last time I was told not to have my minerals floating for too long... I forgot who told me but he said "When you have the minerals, spend it. It ain't going to charity."

I'm Gold too and I have trouble spending minerals as well Usually I do well until I get mid-game supply blocked, because that really hurts your unit count.
Step 7 Make sure you have fun.

These 2 are the most important in my opinion. If you are not having fun and also keeping your calm you will not be able to think rationally about the games you have won and the games you have lost. those people who nerd rage at losses will never improve faster than those that approach the game cool, calm and collected.
Also if you are well manner and a good individual in the community (which many people on this forum are) then you will find that others will respond to that positively and help you out with any problems in your gameplay. if you are a jerk to everyone then you wont get much help at all.

I have problems getting enough minerals to produce lol. I don't really have a problem spending them. In the early stage of the game, its either you expo, build more pylons, or build up your army. A little into the mid-game, I start teching up and getting upgrades. But I'm too impatient. I keep going for all-ins =|

Agreed. I do think so as well. If it wasn't fun for the game, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place

all i have to say is macro hatchs are great for spending money ro just sac some lings in like a run-by to kill some drones
Look for timings and whatnot in your matchups! I found out that most protosses dont have a heavy unit count when they fast expand, so I can pressure it with my roach force. It completely changed the way I play ZvP without having to look at any instructions/vids.

These seems pretty accurate. Getting into Masters as a Diamond player has proved to be tough, but a lot of it comes to having prime macro and microing your units apporpriately
I managed to get to platinum in 3months of Sc2 Play. I'm not sure if that's good or not but for me to progress the steps looked something like this:
1. Play as much as you can.
2. Constantly browsing Team Liquid from builds.
3. watch plenty of Sc2 Tournaments to know what builds are hot atm.
4. Watch less streams and play more games.
5. Learn to not get angry/ frustrated after a lose.
