It has been a long while since we had a LAN in Melbourne... But the wait is now over. I am proud to announce the first of what we hope will be many. So bring down all your friends and enjoy a day of great Starcraft II action.

We are really excited to be hosting this tournament at the Zen Gaming Lounge. They really do have an amazing set up. On the third floor they have a room full of bean bags and TV's where players can chill out and enjoy the rest of the games in the tournament between their games. They also have a whole selection of board games that you can enjoy in the downtime.
All competitors on the day will receive membership rates thanks to Zen Gaming Lounge and their staff. This reduced rates is $3.50 per hour.
Sick work, I will no doubt turn up.
If any interstate travelers are looking for a place, I have a few spare beds as the rest of my family is overseas at that point. (give me a shout, i dont bite)

Does anybody have room for a well groomed handsome young man such as myself? I don't bite and am low maintenance. I will be flying in Saturday morning and will probably cab to the LAN, then I will just stay overnight and leave at the earliest flight Sunday morning.
We have got a whole bunch of Blizzard loot to giveaway during the day. All kinds of things ranging from a Battle.net Authenticator to Protoss Warp Blades! Got to be in it to win it!

I think I might come in wearing my old Snx jersey so people will see my name on the back and come say hi. Missing a lot of the usual competitive faces at this LAN so I'm keen to make some new friends .
hello, ill be joining in unless something happens this week. how much would you guys recommend bringing?
Money wise, I would be bringing $20 just to be safe. This means that if you lose in the tournament you can still use the computer for as long as you want. Probably won't have to spend all that if you don't want to though.
Updated the op with some additional prizes. Hope to see everyone there on Saturday! Tomorrow I will do a big post with everything you need to know details wise and about when you need to get to the venue!
Please arrive at the venue between 10:30 - 11:00. The earlier the better. The tournament is set to start at !!!!!!11:00!!!!!!
This is so that we can complete the brackets promptly and you can get your computers set up quickly as possible so that the start of the tournament is smooth.
They have everything you need at the venue. Computers, Moniters, keyboards, mouses, headphones, mousepads etc. HOWEVER, if you want to bring your own keyboard, mouse, headphone, mousepad you are welcome to.
The allocated computers for our tournament are all on the bottom level. Just walk into the building and you are right there.
To get to the venue via public transport you can get there a few ways. From Flinders Street walk across the river and down to crown. Find city road one main road in. From Southern Cross Station take the #12 down to the the stop near the macca's. Otherwise you can just walk from the station. Roughly 20 minute walk.
Please see Sean or Eugene when you first arrive to check in for the tournament.
If you are going to be late, don't worry, just let us know and you will still be added to the bracket. This could be on facebook, sc2sea, teamliquid, twitter (@SC2Probe, @eastuto), skype, discord. BUT PLEASE LET US KNOW.
We are really looking forward to running this event, hope to see you all there tomorrow!
Decided to abandon wearing my old Snx jersey. I will be wearing a black tshirt or possibly a red wine peacoat on top if it's cold. So come say hi to me .
EDIT: Hahaha good one lads. Turns out I won't be able to make it tomorrow. GG I hope you all enjoy yourselves!
This was a amazing event, thank you very much for everyone involved in organizing it. i enjoyed myself immensely. will keep a eye out for the next one and will try my best to come thanks for the games, chats, and fun.
Considering this is my first ever event I have nothing to compare it to but it was very fun and re-watching the vod's has been a blast! Thanks everyone for organizing it and especially thanks to Probe for convincing me to come.

It was great fun! I enjoyed it a lot. Everyone was so nice and chat was insane. Wish I wasn't so shy all the time but oh well I'll get to know people better over time. I still don't quite fully grasp the fact I'm so liked and semi popular. I'm just another guy trying to learn and play Starcraft.
Hi guys,
Hope everyone who attended and watched online enjoyed the event.
Just looking for some feedback and suggestions for the next one.
My own observations.
-Contact blizzard before hand so we don't get ip banned.
-Make sure they haven't accidently double booked the venue so we can spread out a bit more and deal with computers/starcraft not working properly.
- Get a better mic for casting
- Get some form of lighting for the stream
- Find a better place to cast from.
- Get a better webcam
- Bring a laptop with hdmi connection so that we can watch and enjoy the stream upstairs.
Questions:
Format all good?
How we seeded: fine or could be changed?
For those who had the computer crashing while you were ingame, was that because you were out of money? Or just it crashing.
If the prize pool was to increase, thoughts on how you would like to see it split up( eg, 1st - 8th, or top 3, etc)
If there is anything, please respond with feedback.
Can I told you so? We almost need our own recording studio for it

I would like to see some form of encouragement for people to keep playing. once we were knocked out, most people laddered a bit, then logged out.
Some way to encourage every to do co-op/archon/1v1 practice would be awesome
If I can attend the next one you run I can bring my mic, at2020 desktop mic which would be pretty good. I watched a few of the games, looked like a good event, well done Probe.

SEA - means I'm pretty awesome
If there was a larger prize pool, and similar attendance rates, it'd be cool to see maybe a consolation prize of 10-20$ for places 4-8 to help cover their PC costs. Bulk of prize going to top 3 or so seems fine to me.
Overall I loved the format and had a grand old time getting r3kt by Rize and Pezz.
The venue is fantastic, customer service excellent, and their milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard. The oreo cookies and cream milkshake was bloody awesome.

Thanks for everything
Possibly having everyone play 3 matches no matter what would be nice. So the losers of the round 1 losers bracket play each other for a small prize which just keeps people around longer.
Viewing area for the stream is a must I felt like I was wandering around doing nothing after my games had I been able to go chill and watch that'd be awesome.

This was a big thing for me considering I lost twice I felt out of place and like I had nothing to really do. The stream would have been nice to watch on the 3rd floor like Probe mentioned.

I have one too that I can bring if needed and or if you don't come.
One masive problem was the way i played haha but the event was really good makes me want to come back every time even with the hiccups it was still a great day and i reckon it will only get bigger and bigger\
i loved the event, was great fun i liked that it was a day event and didn't need moving around at night. thank you for hosting this and please please do it again. i didn't have any problems with the event, and liked that we were so packed as meant could have some fun well playing for those less serious players in tournament. +meant was easier to find people
I agree with Stephen. I liked the times I really wouldn't want it at night as I wouldn't feel comfortable travelling home on the train at 2-3am or even 11pm-Midnight alone. It was a 9 hour day anyway so I feel like 11am-8pm is a lot easier than 3pm-12pm or 7pm-4am. I believe you'll get a better turn out during the day anyway.
After being eliminated, have a bunch of fun prizes that people can challenge each other for.. if you have 30 random fun things that means everyone basically walks home with some sort of prize...? - You'd have a fair idea of everyone's skill once the 1st round losers bracket players were eliminated and could match people up pretty easily for some good fun matches.
Get the PC cafe to kick in stuff for this cause it will mean more people paying for longer play time?
Enjoyed watching on the stream, but could have easily have had 2 streams running or kept the off venue stream running a few of the other lower bracket matches (this would have kept the tournament moving not having to hold up matches.
A bit more notice to the event, please?! I know a month seems like a really long time, but for people with full time jobs travelling interstate its tricky to get off work with 1 months notice.
Looked like a really good event and I hope to be able to make it out to the next one!! Good stuff Probe and Co.
Yeah unlikely that we would change the event time. It will either be on a Saturday or Sunday. I like Saturday better so that people can fly back home in time if they are coming down.
For next time I also will keep more giveaways until the latter stages of the tournament.
I had a fun time casting at the start of the event We would happily have kept casting more matches, but cause we were using Probe's stream key we sort of had to give it back. Maybe next time we can do it from one of our streams and do some of the other matches?
P.S. Hail Slurmee: The People's Champion

Your cast was bloody amazing!!! Thanks so much for making my gameplay look entertaining! Having 2 casts would have made the down time less.
