MLG vs Proleague tournament takes a hit
Players registered to ESF teams will not be competing in the MVP tournament starting today according to a Gamespot source. Joshua "FXOBoss" Dentrinos told Gamespot that "it was most likely because the ESF teams only got 8 invites and KESPA got 24." As esports director of an ESF team, his words hold significant weight. "KESPA hasn't helped develop MLG as much as ESF teams have," he added.
American player Sasha "Scarlett" Hostyn will also be missing due to a poor connection when playing on the Korean servers. Since this is an online competition a good connection is necessary to perform well.
Also stephano isnt playing, because he doesnt think its worth the amount of time investment needed given the reward.
Also id reccomend people watch the most recent Lo3 to see Scoots ripping into Lee chen (MLG-Guy) about it, there was classic scoots no-fluff, and a solid discussion all around about the entire tournament.
yeah and there is only 1st place prize being 10k. pretty much a waste of time for every one to go through the lag, obscene play times and overall lack of connection with MLG, I don't blame them

10k for a tournament that goes for 5 weeks. Top 8 get seeds in MLG Fall Championship groups. 12 games total followed by playoffs where if you win first round best of 7, you are guarenteed a seed for MLG Fall.
I'm failing to see a downside to this. Fair enough if you have unplayable lag, but to say there is no incentive to play this tournament is an absolute joke. AFAIK they play their games at reasonable times, and the broadcast is from replays. Beat a KESPA player as an NA player, get known. Builds exposure to everyone who laughs at the NA scene.
Sometimes I just don't understand the mind set of these "Pro" players.
