Hello again faithful readers, and welcome to another SC2 Scene News. This week we've got some special goodies for you, including announcements from Team dignitas and IGN. Plus a special interview with SEA's very own mOOnGLaDe! We've also got some sadder news that's a little closer to home... Not to mention, as always, all the latest tournament results. Read on to find out more.
On Friday Aug 19th the UK's premier E-sports team "dignitas" announced the second of their players to make the move towards Korea. Sjow will be joining his team mate NaNiwa who has already competed in GSL code A this month.
MLG Anaheim was another display of just how dominant South Koreans are when they attend foreign Starcraft II events with the top six spots being taken by the members of SlayerS, MVP, iM and fnatic. The best non-Koreans on site where EG's HuK (already in Korea) and IdrA and Swedish Team Dignitas stars Johan 'NaNiwa' Lucchesi and Jeffrey 'SjoW' Brusi.
The MLG/GSL exchange program will now make a dual Dignitas GSL appearance possible! NaNiwa already participated in this month's GSL Code A August, now he will be joined by his fellow countryman SjoW in next month's GSL Code A September! We are looking forward to seeing our players compete amongst some of the best Korean players in the GOM.TV studios! - Marek "Meph" Walkowiak
On August 18th IGN announced their partnership with the newly formed team "Reign", consisting of some of the former members of ROOT gaming, including the always loveable KiWiKaKi. The new Team "ReIGN" will be flexing their stuff over the next few months. So keep an eye out for them.
Today I am pleased to announce the partnership of IGN and Team ReIGN. IGN will not only be providing the support needed to maintain the ReIGN team house, but collaborating with ReIGN to provide quality live and pre-recorded media coverage to the StarCraft community. Much of this content will be shown through the Team ReIGN stream, while other content will be featured as part of IPL TV. IGN will also assist in the creation of the official Team ReIGN website.
We're extremely happy with what IGN has worked on in it's brief time in eSports including IPL1, 2 & 3, IPL TV, and IPL Team Arena. We believe this partnership will help bolster IPL in many of its avenues into eSports.
And before you ask, while we have been in talks with IGN for quite some time, it was just a serendipitous coincidence that KiWiKaKi picked a name for us that contained the letters IGN. We're not actually that clever intentionally.
That's right guys...SEA's casting genius is leaving us. It's sad, but I think I speak for everyone when I say thank-you. You've been a huge part of this community and we're all going to miss you. Good luck in whatever you do in the future. We will miss you.
