I have a few concepts for some tournaments that I think will be a lot of fun. Currently there are a host of great tournaments being run and I would really like to add to those with something perhaps a little lighter and less intense but designed to promote having fun in SC2. These are all ideas that I've run on a smaller scale at LAN parties and they have always proved to be a lot of fun.
People who would like to participate: Please provide your IGN and current ranking.
Preferred time for a future tournament to take place.
Any other thoughts.
Concept #1 (others to be explored at a future date)
HOTS FFA Tournament
Depending on the size of the field and level of interest the tournament would be fought with rounds played on 4 player maps with the victor progressing through to successive rounds. The final would be fought between the victors of the previous rounds. Would take place on a 4,6 or 8 player map depending on just how many people would like to enter and how crazy we'd like the finals to be.
There is always a huge amount of table talk that goes on in these sorts of FFA's it adds a lot of atmosphere to the game and is quite amusing to participate in.
I'm happy to run successive tournaments if there is enough interest and would prefer to split it into the skill rankings discussed previously on the forum here.
Great idea! I would be keen. Run it on a Saturday arvo i reckon. I would suggest team tourneys? Like 2v2, 3v3, 4v4. Maybe one week ffa, other weeeks team games?
Anyway i am keen! Shotgun urbane And jombie on my team!
Sounds good Sleepycod. I'm happy to spend the time to organize them I'd love to mix up the composition of the tournaments with some team games and FFA, maybe even some arcade tournaments at some point.
My goal is to get the community involved, have some fun and still have that aspect of some prestige for a win.
What would you say is the best way to spread the word on this sort of thing? This section of the forum seems fairly quiet.
I am not sure exactly what the best way to go about this is... I think would need to discuss with one of the Admins. Balimaar has started his own tourney, Bass Fish Open, so he will have some good advice on how to start the ball rolling!
