After recently moving to Australia from South Korea, Carnage eSports' KingKong has been dominating the SEA scene. After he took out the last two wT weeklies and the Masters Cup, I decided to sit down with KingKong and have a chat about his current life in Australia, Australian Internet and his current practice regime in a bid to not only shed some light on this gentle giant, but also help him practice his English.
Lemminks: Hihi KingKong, How are your English lessons going?
Sam “cR.KingKong” Yu: Korea Teacher is video study. Likely 2013 January go to English school and July cooking uni.
Lemminks: Why don’t we start with you introducing yourself?
cR.KingKong: I am Sam KingKong Yu. My International age is 22, think in Australia, live is the Best.
Lemminks: What about your current occupation (what is your job)?
cR.KingKong: Now Progamer and Student.
Lemminks: Back in Korea you were part of team Startale correct?
cR.KingKong: Hm. Startale Out, my Team Carnage now. But I like Startale people.
Lemminks: What was it like being part of Startale? Did you live in the team house?
cR.KingKong: Yes, StarTale people Team House live.
Lemminks: Who introduced you to sc2sea and the sea scene?
cR.KingKong: I BW Progamer season, my old brothers SC2 Australia accounts get. Only me ladder game, YoonYJ game and say are you Korean? I think he is ID Korean name. He say I'm Korean, he introduction many Korean clan, Team SPR. I go to channel TEAM SPR, SPR people many game many say become friendly.
Lemminks: You caused quite a stir upon competing in sc2sea tournaments at first, were you aware of this and if so, what were your thoughts about it?
cR.KingKong: Actually it was my first time to had online match, so it was quite interesting and funny. And I didn’t know about that haha.
Lemminks: How do you like Australia so far? How is it compared to living in Korea?
cR.KingKong: Well, I think Australia has fresh air, and I think people preserved well the environment. Umm, it was quite hard to adjust Australia culture, but I like this place.
Lemminks: How about Australian Internet?
cR.KingKong: Be honest with you, it is not really good, I can't imagine this Internet speed in Korea. Haha. Sometimes I get some trouble during online match TT.
Lemminks: What is your current practice schedule like? How it is compared to when you were in Korea?
cR.KingKong: Mostly, I study during daytime and after 2 o'clock practice Sc2. When I was in Korea, I practiced for whole day everyday. Haha.
Lemminks: What inspired you to play the Zerg race?
cR.KingKong: Umm, the reason why I play Zerg race is because it's easy to change unit combination like zergling to roach quickly.
Lemminks: Aside from numerous wins in sc2sea events, what is you best tournament result?
cR.KingKong: I guess, in Homestory cup Open Bracket vs. Nestea me 2:1 win.
Lemminks: wow very gosu 0_0
cR.KingKong: Thanks haha.
Lemminks: Almost as good as fray'Ninja. Anyway, you recently made it to Stage 3 of the IEM Singapore qualifiers, are you confident that you’ll take the direct seed into IEM Singapore?
cR.KingKong: actually, I’m not that confident but I’ll do my best. .
Lemminks: Are you planning on travelling to Singapore to compete?
cR.KingKong: Yes, why not.
Lemminks: You recently joined Team Carnage, how are you enjoying being part of that team?
cR.KingKong: Even my English is very bad, they are all good to me. Even on chatting, they use easy word for me. haha.
Lemminks: Lets move away from Starcraft 2 for a bit, are there any other games that you enjoy playing?
cR.KingKong: No only Sc2.
Lemminks: What inspired you to study cooking in Australia?
cR.KingKong: From childhood I liked to cook. I good at Cooking kk.
Lemminks: So why Australia instead of somewhere else, like France?
cR.KingKong: Aus live in My brother house and study English.
Lemminks: Lastly which player in the sea region are you most afraid of?
cR.KingKong: Moonglade.
Lemminks: Any particular reason why?
cR.KingKong: Aus Number One Player...I think Mafia gosu, more gosu Moonglade.
